Job Description

What is the role?

The Information and Advice Hub offers free, impartial, and confidential advice services to residents across South Ayrshire. Working in this role you need to be completely customer focussed and have a background in delivering welfare rights advice and/or money advice from budgeting to debt advice.

This role will be part of an exciting expansion to our existing Education and Community project, predominantly based within Schools across South Ayrshire within the North (Troon/Prestwick areas), South (Girvan/Maybole areas) or Ayr clusters, and the surrounding villages within community venues. The successful candidate will provide in school support and preventative debt advice and welfare rights programmes to pupils, school staff including teachers and support staff, and parents/carers. You will also work with the service management team, community groups, school management teams and partner agencies to expand advice service provision, attending support groups and meetings as required to provide money and welfare benefits advice to residents within South Ayrshire.

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate your experience of delivering welfare benefits and/or money advice & debt advice, you should be flexible to meet the changing needs of the service and have the drive to assist with meeting the Council Commitment of reducing poverty and disadvantage.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of working in a similar role, can demonstrate skills in handling complex customer enquiries face to face, by phone, digitally and have experience of using multiple ICT systems simultaneously. The Grade of these posts are Grade 2 / Level 8; the hourly rate is from £18.52 to £20.18 and the annual salary is from £33,799 - £36,828.
