JOB DESCRIPTION
Trainee Electoral Registration Advisor
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Electoral Registration Team as a “Trainee Electoral Registration Advisor”.
The Electoral Registration Officer for Ayrshire is responsible for preparing and maintaining the Register of Electors and is seeking talented individuals who are looking to embark on a long-term career in electoral administration.
You will “learn while you earn”, being provided with “on the job” training, with a view to undertaking study to gain a Certificate in Electoral Administration, leading to professional membership of the Association of Electoral Administrators.
Electoral Registration has gone through significant change in recent years, and we aim to build a robust staffing structure, providing opportunities for long term career and progression opportunities.
We are keen to hear from applicants who are interested in committing to a period of training, followed by study to become a qualified Electoral Registration Advisor.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills together with a positive, professional, and responsible attitude. You should have the ability to work as part of a team or individually and be capable of adhering to strict deadlines.

ABOUT US
Who We Are and What We Do
Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board has been established since 1996 and discharges jointly the functions of North, South and East Ayrshire Valuation authorities.
Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is a council in its own right, separate from the three Ayrshire Councils, comprising 16 members, elected councillors from each of the three authorities for which the Board has responsibility.
The Board appoints the Assessor who is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll and Valuation List, these are the base documents which are required for the three Ayrshire Councils to in gather non-domestic rates and council tax.
The three Councils have also appointed the Assessor to be the Electoral Registration Officer, responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Register of Electors which is essential for all Parliamentary and Local Government Elections.

This post is subject to a Level 1 Disclosure, and you may be required to meet the cost.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a Level 3 to Level 4 post as training and qualification progresses.
- Level 3 annual salary is from £26,481 to £26,791
- Level 4 annual salary is from £27,065 to £27,667
The work style for this post is Hybrid Worker.
The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly between home and the office and the frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service.
