We have one of the largest local authority fleets in Scotland with a modern fleet of vehicles ranging from small cars to 32-ton tippers and various types of small and large plant items. Fleet Services maintain the full range of over 1,700 vehicles and plant operated by the Council in a fully equipped workshop in Blantyre and a satellite workshop in Lanark.

Join us and you’ll have the opportunity to obtain both experience and qualifications across the range of fleet we operate, ultimately working towards a position where you’re able to move from servicing a small electric car to repairing a 32-ton tipper.

You’ll also work towards holding an HGV driving licence and a drivers CPC qualification.

We provide a wide range of supports to the local community, operating throughout day and night.

We currently have vacancies for advanced Mechanics to join our team at our workshops in Hamilton Technology Park and Lanark. The successful candidates must be time served mechanics, have 5 years post apprentice experience (NVQ Level 3) or 1 year’s post apprenticeship experience (NVQ Level 4) and hold an IMI / IRTEC Master Technician accreditation. Advanced mechanics must be capable of performing complex diagnostic checks and repairs on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.

Candidates will continue to participate in the IRTE Licencing scheme at Master Technician level and mentor fellow technicians and apprentices. A current full cat B licence is essential and an LGV/PCV licence would be desirable although training may be provided.
