The opportunity has arisen for 4 Personnel Officers to join our team across Recruitment and Onboarding, Operational Transactions and Employee Relations. Information on these roles is detailed below.
Recruitment and Operational Transactional Roles - 1 Permanent role and 1 fixed term role for 1 year
To be part of the HR transactional hub, managing and supporting a busy team of Personnel and Clerical Assistants. Your main areas of work will align to either the recruitment and onboarding team or the pay & conditions transactional team.
We are looking for applicants who are confident communicators with experience of working in a busy, customer focused environment, and who are resilient, positive and quick to learn. If interested, you should be able to demonstrate your ability to work successfully as part of a team, providing support to managers and employees whilst maintaining a highly professional manner, confidentiality and discretion at all times.
Supervisory experience is not essential; however, you must be able to demonstrate your ability to manage a team where competing priorities, meeting deadlines and achieving key performance indicators is essential.
You will be highly organised, proactive and motivated with excellent planning skills allowing you to make an immediate and positive impact within the team. You should be up for the challenge of learning new skills and looking for new ways of maximising the integrated HR and Payroll system ensuring ongoing improvement to service delivery. Therefore, previous knowledge and understanding of Oracle Fusion would be advantageous, however training and support will be provided.
In addition, applicants will demonstrate the ability to interrogate HR systems and undertake thorough data analysis that contributes to the Council’s reporting requirements, ensuring that accurate and meaningful data is available to inform decision-making and compliance.
Employee Relations Role - 2 Permanent roles
You will provide specialist advice and guidance to managers, employees and their representatives on a wide range of employee relations and involvement issues. You will help ensure our policies reflect best practice, meet legislative requirements, and support the Council’s values and service plans. You will also represent Personnel Services on internal / external groups, bodies or committees as required and
Your work will involve:

Liaising with managers, employees, personnel colleagues, and trade unions to ensure a consistent, supportive approach to employee relations issues.
- Providing expert advice on discipline, grievance, dignity at work, terms and conditions, and other personnel matters.
- Leading investigations and representing Personnel Services at hearings and meetings.
- Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of HR policies and procedures.
- Promoting equality, inclusion, and fairness in all aspects of service delivery.
You will have a professional HR qualification and/or relevant experience in operational HR service delivery, with strong knowledge of personnel policies, employment law, and best practice. You’ll be a confident communicator with excellent organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. CIPD qualification is desirable.
