View the Building Operative (Water quality) job profile

We require Building Operatives (Water Quality) to support the delivery of the Water Quality Monitoring Programme. You should be able to demonstrate experience of working within either a commercial/domestic building or a construction/maintenance environment. You will have a flexible approach to managing varied workloads as you will be required to carry out all associated water quality work including Schools, Public Buildings and Domestic Properties throughout South Lanarkshire.

You will be able to demonstrate sound practical technical competencies in managing and delivering jobs. It is desirable that you have or are willing to work towards the Qualification BS2 City & Guilds in hot and cold water systems and proof of training history in this function is required.

You should demonstrate a commitment to the principals of customer care, while displaying excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate previous experience of working to targets and pre-determined timescales along with an awareness of health and safety in the workplace.

You will be required to access attics, voids and confined spaces.

You will be required to demonstrate the ability to, and undertake tasks including but not limited to the following:

  • Ability to identify the underlying cause of a problem and take appropriate remedial action to rectify faults
  • Undertake all tasks within the scope of own role to a high quality in line with the requirements of the Integrated Management System
  • Assess working environment and adjust working practices to suit.
  • Demonstrate openness to new organisational structures, procedures and technology.
  • Undertake continuous personal and technical development.
  • Plan and organise own workload to satisfy programme deadlines and job targets.
  • Organise appropriate materials, plant, transport and any other resources required to efficiently facilitate all scheduled work.
  • Ensure accuracy, quality and timeous submission of all documentation in accordance with procedures and policies
  • Demonstrate working within a performance environment by achieving targeted objectives.
  • Provide a timely service to colleagues and customers showing tact and sensitivity to the needs of others (e.g. on reception, over the telephone).
