Job Description

Ground Services require seasonal staff to undertake the tasks listed below at the various depots throughout South Lanarkshire.

Location: Forrest Street Depot, Forrest Street, Blantyre, G72 0JP 

You should have the ability to undertake work outdoors, display an approachable and helpful manner, have an enthusiastic attitude and be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Previous experience of working in grounds maintenance and knowledge of health and safety requirements within grounds maintenance would be desirable.

The main duties of the post include grass cutting, hedge trimming and generally working in outdoor open spaces.

Placing within the salary scale will be dependent upon behaviours and previous experience.

Hours: 37 hours per week

26 Week fixed term contract

Monday to Thursday 8-00am till 4-30pm with a half hour unpaid lunch.

Friday 8-00am till 1-00pm no lunch.

Candidates should be aware that alternative working hours are currently in discussions and will be advised of this should you progress through to interview stage.

Interviews for these posts will be held in the depots, all interviews will be undertaken in line with current Government guidance with regards Covid 19. The interview will be face to face with the relevant grounds officer in a controlled environment, appropriate PPE will be required i.e. face covering.

Responsibilities

To undertake, individually or as part of a team, duties connected with general grounds maintenance. This could include grass-cutting, hedge trimming, use of plant and equipment.

To ensure assigned workload is completed.

Undertake the completion of appropriate records and paperwork as required

To observe Council Health and Safety procedures at all times.
