Administration and Legal Services, Finance and Corporate Resources seeks to recruit a self-motivated individual, with extensive committee experience and strong organisational skills, to oversee and implement governance arrangements associated with the provision of a comprehensive committee administration service to support the Council’s decision-making process within Council Offices, Almada Street, Hamilton.

This role involves providing support to the Administration Manager in ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met by contributing to strategic decisions and effectively deploying and adapting resources to meet service delivery. You will be required to supervise, support and lead a busy team responsible for a variety of Council Committees, Forums and Joint Boards.

You will undertake a wide range of duties in accordance with statutory and predetermined procedures, often working with sensitive information and adhering to tight deadlines and agreed performance targets. You will be involved in dealing with and providing advice and guidance to elected members, senior officers, both internal and external, as well as other stakeholders, therefore, it is essential that you possess excellent communication skills and a commitment to the principles of customer care. You must work in a highly professional manner, exercising confidentiality and discretion at all times and have the ability to respond effectively to and manage changing priorities.

Ideally, you should have experience in leading a team, as well as extensive employment experience in all aspects of clerking and administering formal committee/boards. You will be required to demonstrate an understanding of the governance arrangements associated with such boards/committees as well as having excellent written, oral and IT skills. You will also be required to facilitate hybrid meetings (in person and online) which are livestreamed and available for the public to view.
