The grade for these posts is Grade 2 level 3 - £17.72 to £18.21 per hour. Pay award as from April 2026 will be £18.34 - £18.85.

As this is a shift working post, you will receive an additional 1 or 2 increment (depending on your shift pattern) and this will be consolidated into your salary. This role will require flexible evening and weekend working. For all shifts, the morning shift can start between 7am and 8am, and backshift can end between 9pm and 11pm.

You must have SVQ Level 2 in Social Care, or equivalent, to fully meet SSSC registration requirements of the post. You must provide proof of your qualifications when applying for this post as part of your application.  Your qualification evidence should be attached to your application in the “Supported Documents” and URL section:

You will be required to demonstrate your ability to work at SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care as a minimum standard and be willing to work towards achieving this qualification if you do not already hold this qualification/equivalent or greater.

You will be required to work in accordance with a roster shift pattern.

Describe a time when you dealt with a difficult or unexpected situation where you had to act quickly.

What happened, what risks were involved, how did you assess and manage these risks, and what was the final outcome for the service user?

Understanding What Matters to Service Users

What do you think is most important to the people receiving care at home?

Explain your understanding and describe how you would approach your role to ensure their needs, dignity and preferences are respected.

Managing Refusal of Care or Emotional Distress

Describe how you would respond if a service user refused care or became upset.

Explain the steps you would take to support them, maintain their dignity, ensure their safety, and communicate respectfully.
