An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and experienced Social Work professional to join the Joint Investigative Interview (JII) Team as a Team Leader within South Lanarkshire Council’s Children and Justice Service on a part-time basis.
The Lanarkshire JII Team brings together Social Work and Police Staff from South Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire Councils, and Police Scotland.
The Lanarkshire JII Team is co‑located at Blantyre Police Office and operates in partnership with Police Scotland and North Lanarkshire Council to support high‑quality Joint Investigative Interviews under the Scottish Child Interview Model (SCIM).
As Team Leader, you will provide leadership, operational oversight and professional guidance to a team of specially trained interviewers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all Joint Investigative Interviews are delivered to a high standard, with a trauma‑informed, child‑centred and evidence‑based approach, in line with national legislation, policy and guidance.
What will you be doing?
You will work closely with colleagues at Police Scotland to ensure that Joint Investigative Interviews are well planned, effectively briefed and debriefed, and aligned with the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland.
Your responsibilities will include:

Leading day‑to‑day decision‑making and oversight of JII activity, ensuring interviews are allocated and progressed without delay.

Providing professional supervision, coaching and support to interviewers, and identifying learning needs to support ongoing CPD and access to the national SCIM training pathway.

Ensuring the quality assurance of interviews conducted jointly by Social Work and Police Scotland, supporting consistency of practice.

Overseeing robust briefing and debriefing processes, ensuring risks, rationale, decisions and next steps are recorded clearly.

Promoting effective multi‑agency communication across Police Scotland, COPFS, Children’s Reporter, health, education and third‑sector partners

Ensuring accurate case recording, management information and performance reporting.

Contributing to service planning, audit, and quality assurance.
This is a leadership role that requires you to work flexibly, respond to emerging priorities and adopt a proactive, collaborative approach to supporting child protection activity. Occasional out‑of‑hours participation may be required.
About You
You will be an experienced and confident Social Work professional, registered with the Scottish Social Services Council, and qualified to degree/diploma level in Social Work.
You will bring substantial post‑qualifying experience within statutory children and justice services, including involvement in child protection work.
You will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the Scottish Child Interview Model, trauma‑informed practice and evidence‑based interviewing approaches.
You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
You will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multi‑agency environment.
You will have proven leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate, support and supervise staff.
