We are recruiting for a Mental Health Officer position within the Hospital Social Work Team to provide a professional service to our client group. We welcome applications from enthusiastic, confident individuals eager to work in a multidisciplinary discharge team.
We encourage applications from qualified MHOs and MHO trainees who will be qualified within 2 months of applying. You must be fully qualified before starting the post.
You will work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting adults with mental illness, aiming to make a positive community impact. Your responsibilities include providing assessment and care management services, fulfilling statutory duties, undertaking casework involving partnership working, and offering professional advice and guidance to individuals, families, and groups within the community.
Experience working with individuals and families affected by severe and enduring mental illness is desirable. Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation is also essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for preparing reports and case notes of high standard. You should demonstrate the ability to relate to people, gain trust, and handle sensitive situations with tact, patience, and understanding. Your role involves responding to safeguarding concerns and carrying out statutory duties under legislation such as the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.
This role also involves duties as an MHO, including work related to the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, the Criminal Procedures (Scotland) Act 1995, and the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.
