We are delighted to offer a rare and exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist working within Housing Services. This unique role links housing, health, and social care, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives through improving access to suitable housing.

About the Role

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Housing Services and the Community Occupational Therapy and Sensory support service (Social Work Resources) to deliver a range of specialist functions, including:

  • Working within the Home and Health Assessment Service to assess the health aspects of housing applications in line with the Council’s Housing Allocation Policy
    • Conducting home visits
    • Recommending housing priority levels
    • Identifying and facilitating the provision of equipment and adaptations to support individuals to remain safely in their homes
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the Home and Health Assessment Service
  • Supporting the identification of housing needs in the development of new-build council housing
  • Undertaking environmental assessments of void council properties to inform the provision of appropriate adaptations and equipment
  • Completing occupational therapy assessments to support the Council’s housing investment programme

About You

We are looking for a motivated and resourceful Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) who can bring both professional expertise and a collaborative approach. You will have:

  • A sound understanding of the pressures on social housing and the challenges of meeting diverse housing needs
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate written reports
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Experience of managing a varied and demanding workload within a small team

A driving licence and the ability to travel are essential for this role.
