About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and proactive Club Development Officers to support sports clubs across South Lanarkshire to become better governed, more sustainable, and fully inclusive. These roles are central to strengthening the local sporting landscape by empowering clubs to provide safe, welcoming, and high‑quality experiences for participants, volunteers, and communities.

Funded by sportscotland, these posts will work closely with local clubs, community partners, and national governing bodies to drive positive change and build long‑term capacity within the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clubs to enhance their governance, including committee development, planning, policies, and compliance with national standards.
  • Manage and develop ClubSL affiliation scheme and support clubs to be more inclusive.
  • Promote and embed inclusive practice, ensuring clubs are equipped to welcome participants from all backgrounds, abilities, and communities.
  • Provide guidance on club development planning, volunteer recruitment, and workforce development.
  • Facilitate access to funding opportunities, training, and resources that strengthen club sustainability.
  • Build strong relationships with clubs, schools, community organisations, and governing bodies to support collaborative development.
  • Contribute to local and national initiatives aligned with sportscotland’s Club & Communities Framework.
  • Monitor and report on progress, impact, and club engagement.

About You

You will bring energy, initiative, and a genuine commitment to inclusive community sport. You should have:

  • Experience working or volunteering within sports development, club environments, or community organisations.
  • Strong understanding of good governance, safeguarding, and equality in sport.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to support and influence volunteers and committees.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • A collaborative mindset and passion for helping clubs thrive.
