Job Description

McLaren High School is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland on the southern edge of Callander, an easy commute from the Central belt – 25 minutes from Stirling and 45 minutes from Glasgow.

Currently the School has a roll of 650 pupils. McLaren High School has highly professional teaching and support staff, with high expectations for our pupils. We are committed to working with parents to support and challenge our pupils to succeed in learning and to develop as confident young citizens. The School was voted Scottish Secondary School of the year for 2024 by the Sunday Times Parent Power List.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, solutions focused Support for Learning Assistant to join the team within Katrine House our Additional Support Needs provision. The provision will increase in size in academic year 2024/25 therefore we are seeking a number of Support for Learning Assistants with options for part time working patterns available.

The successful post holders will work with a range of pupils, supporting young people in a classroom setting within Katrine House and on occasions helping them access opportunities and actives in the mainstream school. Katrine House pupils get involved in a wide range of learning experiences both within a classroom environment and by accessing the local community and surrounding area.

An understanding of complex additional support needs, including autism, and a knowledge of strategies to support young people to co-regulate throughout the school day would be advantageous.
