Job Description

Closing Date: 29 July 2024
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £31,188 - £33,837
Hours: 35 hours

We’re seeking someone with excellent communication skills and a keen interest in investigative work to join our Trading Standards team as a Tobacco and NVP Technical Officer. The role will involve providing business advice and undertaking interventions to ensure regulatory compliance in this area.

This means a varied day to day hybrid working role including gathering evidence and intelligence from businesses and the public, recording intelligence, undercover test purchasing, seizing illicit tobacco, vapes and other nicotine products, drafting witness statements, issuing fixed penalty notices, writing reports on your findings and assisting with preparing case files.

You’ll have a confident manner and be able to deal with potential conflicts, as well as work professionally with businesses and victims and other partner agencies. You will be able to write accurate reports and make recommendations on action to be taken.

This is an interesting and varied role where you will work proactively and reactively under the guidance of Senior Officers to tackle issues relating to Trading Standards work that impact on the quality of life of local residents, businesses and visitors to Stirling and Clackmannanshire. Training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for Children. If your application is progressed after the interview, you will be asked to complete the form and have your details verified.

If you’ve got the right skills for the job we want to hear from you. We encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age (restrictions apply to Modern Apprenticeships), disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race.
