Post 2 - Clydebank Town Centre Offices

As part of West Dunbartonshire Council's ongoing commitment to assist in the successful resettlement of refugees, we are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join a small customer focused support team delivering positive impacts.

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills in both Pashto, Dari and English to work primarily with Pashto, Dari speaking refugees. This is a front line post and key to this role is the ability to develop and maintain relationships under pressure, both with the refugees and with key internal and external services and stakeholders. The post holder must be able to work as part of a team but also be able to work under their own initiative.

Your job will be to assist the refugees in resettling into West Dunbartonshire, taking an
empowering approach which will promote independence and self-sufficiency and will ensure that the refugees are settled positively and successfully.

The successful candidate will provide a wide range of advice and assistance to ensure that refugee tenants understand their rights and responsibilities, can access statutory and non-statutory services including housing, health, education and employment, benefits, DVLA and banking services.

The postholder will work with a range of local stakeholders and in partnership with statutory and third sector agencies and will be expected to operate a flexible working pattern to meet the needs of the clients they will work, including some out of hours support. We are looking for someone who is passionate and skilled in integration, who has a strong client and delivery focus who will be able to assess, support and enable these new customers to resettle and integrate into their local communities and successfully sustain their tenancy.

 

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children/Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
