Care Assistant (Nights) (Queens Quay Care Home)

Job Description

This post is for 33.5 hours and the salary will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked.

Queens Quay House is a modern 84-bed care home providing high-quality, person-centred care to our residents. We are looking for caring, compassionate and motivated individuals to join our established team as Care Assistants.

As a Care Assistant (Nights), you will work as part of a dedicated care team to deliver person-centred care and support to residents throughout the night. You will promote dignity, independence and wellbeing, encouraging meaningful activity, social interaction and engagement throughout the day.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting residents with their individual care and support needs.
- Contributing to electronic care records and care planning.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, residents and families.
- Providing updates and information to families and loved ones.
- Ensuring high standards of care in line with current legislation, best practice and Council policies.
- Supporting residents to maintain choice, independence and quality of life.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable environment.

The annual salary is enhanced by an additional 33% shift allowance for employees working a rotational shift pattern.

The successful candidates should hold an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 6 or SVQ 2 Health and Social Care or be willing to undertake in post within 3 months.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.

Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
