Job Description

This post is Fixed Term until 03/01/2027.

As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata to the hours worked.

To provide an effective and efficient clerical and administrative service in support of the operations of the Early Learning & Childcare Centre. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the nursery office and act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver a high-quality administrative service to support the day-to-day operations of the centre.
- Provide a welcoming and professional reception service, handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries efficiently and sensitively.
- Manage and maintain accurate nursery records using computerised systems, ensuring data is up to date and securely stored.
- Perform general office tasks including photocopying, filing, document preparation, and mail distribution.
- Assist in coordinating transport arrangements and school outings/trips.
- Carry out routine financial duties such as receiving and recording payments for nursery activities, uniforms, and other items.

Essential Skills and Experience:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy office environment.

The work pattern for this post will be agreed between the Principal ELC Officer and the successful candidate, ensuring it meets the needs of the centre.



Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities
