Job Description

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join this supportive and forward-thinking Housing Operations Team as an Occupational Therapist.

The role is within the Housing Operations Team, primarily based in Dumbarton and Vale of Leven, whilst retaining links to the HSCP. You will be assessing applicants for rehousing, in their current housing circumstances, in order to establish housing need and priority, and recommendations for future permanent housing. You will also offer support and expertise around disability design for refurbishment and new build developments.

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload within service performance requirements. You will be required to carry out person centred assessments and identify appropriate priority and housing recommendations to meet individual outcomes, improving housing and occupational performance and maximising independence of tenants. You will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including Housing Operations and HSCP, and be a highly motivated and reflective practitioner with excellent communication skills. Completion of accurate and comprehensive recording is essential to maintain client documentation records and accurate statistical information.  

The service is committed to performance management and objectives which are reflective of local and national priorities and in line with West Dunbartonshire Council’s Housing Allocations Policy.

You will be joining our supportive and innovative Housing Operations Team; a robust and supportive clinical supervision model, along with CPD, will operate under the remit of HSCP. Reflective practice and effective decision making are embedded within the service and daily practice.

The role is flexible with days in the office along with the opportunity for some work to be carried out at home.

The Person

- You must have a qualification, either degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and be registered as an Occupational Therapist with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

- Excellent communication skills and evidence of capacity to use clinical reasoning to; make independent decisions; accept responsibility for actions and use initiative within parameters of responsibility.

- Experience and skills in effective multi-disciplinary team working.

- Ability to use computer-based systems and maintain comprehensive client recording and documentation.

- You must be able to travel to visit vacant properties across West Dunbartonshire.

Requirements

This post is considered a Regulated Role with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
