Job Description
This is a part-time, term-time post the salary will be pro-rata'd to the hours worked.
The post is fixed term until 28/02/2027.
Work Pattern:- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Week 2: Monday and Tuesday.
West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking to recruit enthusiastic and skilled Early Learning and Childcare Officers to join our team at Whitecrook Early Learning and Childcare Centre. Staff will work contracted hours in line with the needs of the service.
This post is peripatetic, and successful applicant may be relocated to a different centre at any time, based on service needs.
Main duties of the post include:
Contributing to the provision of a safe, caring, and stimulating nursery environment for all children.
Supporting and implementing a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance.
Planning, recording, implementing, and evaluating suitable programmes of activities.
Maintaining and recording children’s progress and assessments.
Promoting parental participation in the learning process.
Essential Criteria:
Experience working with pre-five children in a relevant setting.
Knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence (Early Level) and Pre-Birth to Three guidance.
A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to change.
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold one of the following:
NNEB (or modular equivalent)
HNC in Childhood Practice
SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People)
Successful candidates who are not already registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as practitioners will be required to do so within 3 months of their appointment.
Requirements
This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.

In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
