Job Description

We are looking for part time laundry assistant (weekends) at Crosslet House in Dumbarton.

Crosslet House is a residential establishment providing continuous care to the elderly, frail and those living with dementia. The role of the laundry assistant is to contribute to the provision of a laundry service for residents and ensure that standards are met.

You will be responsible for daily washing by machine, of bedding, towels and residents personal clothing and other related articles. Duties will include packing and checking laundry coming into laundry area, drying, ironing, hanging/folding of laundered articles and distribution of laundry back to the resident's rooms.

You will be required to clean all equipment, fixtures and fittings to the specified standard, complying with training and procedures. The laundry assistant will be aware of and adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations relating to all aspects of the post, including the use of electrical equipment, infection control and COSHH regulations.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement, for the benefit of the service and the organisation. 

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
