Job Description

West Dunbartonshire Council has a fantastic opportunity for 4 talented individuals to be Apprentice Joiners

The Modern Apprentice will join the Council's Maintenance and Repairs team who are responsible for carrying out in excess of 60,000 repairs/alterations, capital investment improvements and safety checks to Tenant & Owner Occupied properties Factored by West Dunbartonshire Council each year among other projects.

Maintenance and Repairs have 3 depots, one based at Cochno Street, Clydebank and the other 2 based at Overburn Avenue & Elm Road, Dumbarton covering both Alexandria and Dumbarton geographical areas. We are looking to recruit Modern Apprentice Joiners to be based in one of our 3 depots.

We welcome applications if you are aged 16-24 years (or up to age 29, if you are disabled or care experienced), a resident within West Dunbartonshire, have 3 National Grade 4's (one to include English) or equivalent or any other relevant qualifications and experience.

Access W4U service

This will be a training contract and the posts are fixed term until 29/09/2030.

Requirements

This post is considered a Regulated Role with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.

Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act.

In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
