Job Description

Working as part of the Asset Management team you will co-ordinate the effective provision of property management services across a range of Council buildings including Educational establishments, Council Offices and Civic buildings.

Ensuring the Council provides responsive, quality, value for money services which meet or exceed Customer, Statutory and Council requirements. You will carry out inspections, instruct repairs, including emergency repairs and liaise with craftpersons and contractors and prepare associated reports. You will also monitor and measure contractor’s performance and quality.

The post holder will assist in preparation of maintenance programmes, detailed specifications and documentation to instruct works and obtain estimates and tenders. Where appropriate, specify, administer and monitor contracts for capital and revenue funded works whilst ensuring compliance with Council policies.

Strong planning, communication, organisation, IT/digital skills and problem solving skills, supported by knowledge and experience of property/building maintenance are imperative for this role.

It is an essential requirement of this role that applicants hold a minimum of Ordinary National Diploma/Certificate in a construction discipline, a City and Guilds in a construction craft and/or equivalent experience relevant to the remit of the post.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities
