Job Description

This post is fixed term until the end of July 2027.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to work within West Dunbartonshire Councils Children & Families Team.

The aim of a Support Worker is to increase, through timely support and intervention, the life chances and opportunities of children and families most excluded and at risk within the community.

Although no formal qualifications are essential for this post a SVQ Social Care or related qualification are desirable and a willingness to undertake vocational training is required.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic people to work in this challenging yet rewarding area. The successful candidates will be given regular support and supervision as well as vocational training opportunities. You will be expected to undertake a range of work with families and forge good home/school and nursery links.

Some weekend work may be required and a full driving licence is essential.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
