Job Description

Are you a enthusiastic and engaging planning professional with technical planning expertise and experience of planning policy and practice. If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to lead the Development Planning and Place Team in West Dunbartonshire. You would be joining at an exciting time to lead the Local Development Plan 3 and the preparation of Local Place Plans, supporting and managing a small team of Planning Officers and helping to shape the future of the area. You will have strong stakeholder engagement and management skills to support the Local Development Plan process, working with stakeholders within and out with the Council, and advocating a place- based approach.

The West Dunbartonshire area is a great place to live and work and it is rich in history with the Dumbarton Rock and Castle, iconic Titan Crane, Kilpatrick Hills and unique waterfront sites.

In recent years, there has been significant investment and regeneration in the area along the Clyde Waterfront at Queens Quay and the Council's City Deal Project at Exxon together with new private and affordable housing, new schools. There is still more opportunities to unlock.

Applicants should have a degree in Planning or a relevant subject and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute as this is an essential requirement of the post. The post will be based in our award-winning office at 16 Church Street Dumbarton with opportunities for flexible and mobile working.
