Job Description

This role is an exciting opportunity for a coach to make a significant impact on young people in Dumbarton.

As a Lead Coach within the Active Schools Team, you will deliver coaching programmes that support inclusion within school and community based sports sessions.

The coaching programme is designed to strengthen inclusion within PE and physical activity in secondary and primary school settings. You will build meaningful relationships with pupils, provide consistent support within curricular PE, and respond flexibly to individual and cohort needs.

Alongside in‑class support, the Coach will play a key role in building inclusive engagement beyond the curriculum, delivering and supporting inclusive lunchtime and after‑school clubs that offer low‑pressure, welcoming opportunities to be active. This wider engagement supports pupils to develop confidence, positive associations with physical activity, and pathways into sustained participation.

Supported by Active Schools and PE staff, you will apply inclusive practices into sport and physical activity sessions, and create pathways into wider participation opportunities.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
