Social Policy’s Business Support Service provides support to all service areas across Community Care, Children & Families and Criminal and Youth Justice. The service facilitates the delivery of a culture of continuous improvement and quality assurance (including learning & organisational development) in all aspects of business support, enabling front line social work and social care services through the provision of high quality, flexible support at all times.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Service as a Business Support Officer to support the West Lothian Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) which is a multi-agency body operating within a clear statutory framework with delegated responsibilities from statutory partners.

This post will support strategy development in line with national drug and alcohol strategy and link commissioned service provision to meet the aims of the strategy. The post holder will be based within an open plan working environment and working from home. Work will be varied and encompass working with staff groups and service user/carer groups and provider forums to ensure that all aspects of service delivery take their views into account.

The post holder will report to the business support team manager for Finance & Contracts, they will work to deliver key aspects of the social policy and wider West Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership’s strategic and business plans. The post holder will undertake specific projects and tasks within dedicated teams and across the wider business support function to secure current and future service and corporate requirements in line with overall priorities

Ideally candidates will have extensive knowledge of social work and social care services, alcohol and drug partnership strategy, be computer literate, possess excellent communication, interpersonal and report writing skills and have previous experience of project management. A positive and enthusiastic outlook with a ‘can do’ attitude would fit well with the Service’s ethos. Previous experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: strategy, project management, and alcohol and drug national priorities.

Some post holders may require Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check or registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) depending on the area of the support function they are working in prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
