This post is funded through the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund and is based within the Advice Shop where the successful candidate will work to promote income maximisation and alleviate poverty through advice and advocacy in the areas of welfare benefits/appeals, money/debt, housing and energy advice.
The post holder will work in the Financial Inclusion team working to support people who have experienced domestic abuse and families with kinship care arrangements to maximise income and work toward long-term financial security. This role will deliver targeted interventions to provide whole family support, working alongside a range of community planning partners to ensure that the customer is at the centre of a high-quality advice service.
This role will aim to promote active referrals for customers to a range of holistic support services, working with key stakeholders to improve awareness of financial support, routes to employment, education and training and strengthen referral pathways for appropriate support to achieve whole family wellbeing.
The successful candidate will also assist in the development of this service and help with targeted campaigns for key target groups at highest risk of poverty through the delivery of talks, training and presentations.
Experience giving money/debt, benefits, energy or housing advice is essential as is experience of project management or development. Good research and analytical skills and experience in organising events and delivering talks and presentations are desirable.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
