We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds

This post is based within the Advice Shop where the successful candidate will work to promote financial inclusion and work in partnership to develop actions to mitigate poverty locally.

West Lothian Council is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Development Worker (Anti-Poverty) to support the delivery of the Community Planning Partnership's Tackling Poverty Strategy. Working one day per week (7.20 hours), you will play a key role in bringing together partners across the public, third and community sectors to develop and deliver initiatives that tackle poverty and inequality. The post will involve supporting the Tackling Poverty Task Force, leading the development of the local Tackling Poverty Network, recruiting and developing the Experts by Experience Panel, contributing to the Local Child Poverty Annual Action Plan with NHS Lothian, and ensuring the voices of people with lived experience help shape local decision-making.

We are looking for someone with experience in advice, welfare rights, community development, poverty reduction or a related field, together with excellent communication, organisational and partnership-working skills. You will have a strong understanding of welfare benefits and income maximisation, experience of developing projects and working collaboratively with stakeholders, and the ability to analyse information and prepare reports for a range of audiences. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to tackling poverty in West Lothian and improving outcomes for local people and communities.

The post holder should also have a high level of research and analytical skills. Experience in organising events and delivering training is also desirable.

Secondment opportunities must be discussed with your current line manager prior to submitting an application for this post. (Internal Staff)
