We're looking for an experienced and forward-thinking OD and learning professional to join our Human Resources team. As an OD Manager, you will play a key role in delivery of the council’s People Strategy, developing and leading people focused initiatives that support our transformation agenda and position us as an Employer of Choice.
Joining data, strategy, and people, you will support the organisation to build workforce capabilities through innovative and best practice people management and development interventions. As a member of the HR Management team, you will also work with HR colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure OD, HR Policy, and Equality and Diversity activities align, to deliver our corporate objectives.
You will:
- Play a key role in development and implementation of the council’s People Strategy
- Lead strategies to improve organisational capacity and capability through integration of workforce planning, people development and organisational design.
- Work with senior managers to identify how learning and development processes could be developed or redesigned to add greater value.
- Develop and deliver effective learning and development programmes for all employees including leadership programmes for managers and targeted development for elected members.
- Analyse workforce needs and provide specialist advice and support to leaders and services on change management, employee engagement, skills development and workplace culture.
- Provide advice to services and HR colleagues on development solutions to support the design if services and jobs
- Contribute to the review of HR policies, procedures and training
About you
You will be an experienced Organisational Development professional with a proven track record of applying OD knowledge and skills to support organisational transformation and build workforce capability. You will thrive in complex environments and use highly effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and support senior leaders to deliver key objectives. Your expertise will allow you to manage a wide range of OD projects and recognise critical links between OD and HR policies and practices.
You will be a Chartered Member of the CIPD or equivalent and have excellent IT skills, along with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience of working in the public sector would be beneficial.
