Planning Services are seeking to employ a part-time Principal Building Standards Officer to work at Civic Centre, Livingston in a hybrid capacity. This post is for 14.4 hrs/week.
Working alongside the other Principal Building Standards Officer within the team and reporting to the Building Standards manager, the successful candidate will share the responsibilities of the post including but not limited to line manager responsibilities for approximately 6 members of staff and will lead on all major applications within your designated team.
You will oversee the effective delivery of the Building Standards service ensuring the service meets the requirements of the Performance & Operating Frameworks.
The main purpose of the Principal Building Standards Officer is outlined in the attached job description.
Essential requirements for the post are:
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent, appropriate experience.
- Chartered member of an institute representing the professional disciplines covered by the service.
- Significant relevant professional experience, including supervisory experience.
- Highly developed inter-personal skills.
- Ability to drive delivery of a consistently high standard of service.
- In-depth knowledge of current and proposed legislation and best practice relevant to the responsibilities of the service.
