We are looking to recruit a Project Officer to support the Operational Services Management Team in delivering on current and future service requirements and facilitating a culture of continuous improvement within the service.

Heads of Service are responsible for carrying out the agreed policies of the council and the overall leadership and management of a portfolio of council services.  The Project Officer will work collaboratively with the Head of Service and service managers to, to support the Head of Service in their role. 

To support the planning and implementation of specific projects and tasks to ensure the delivery of current and future service and corporate requirements in line with overall priorities.

To support and facilitate the delivery of a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on quality assurance enabling the delivery of high-quality front-line services.

Appreciation of the purpose, direction and potential of the council in the context of overall public sector service delivery in Scotland is essential.  Knowledge of local government functions, powers and duties, the nature and future of its relationship with Government, and with a wide range of agencies in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

  • Degree in relevant discipline or recent relevant equivalent experience
  • Proven performance and project management skills
  • Significant experience in undertaking research and preparing documents to a high standard
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences, e.g. senior management, members of the public and external organisations including the ability to explain potentially complicated or sensitive subject matters in a straight-forward manner and with tact
  • Ability to manage priorities and workload and deliver to strict deadlines. Ability to work under pressure.
