An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Property Services Manager at West Lothian Council.
The Property Services Manager has overall responsibility for the Property Services Unit, including the delivery of the council’s Asset Management Strategy. The post holder will directly manage a number of highly knowledgeable and professional individuals.
The post holder must possess a high level of professional and managerial skills and have the ability to apply these skills innovatively in meeting the demands of the Unit’s range of customers. The post holder must have relevant knowledge and experience. The post holder must also have the ability to exercise judgement in balancing the requirements of senior officers, elected members, auditors and third parties, for example external funding partners and the Scottish Government.
The post is a senior post within Finance and Property Services and the Council and will involve direct contact on a reasonably frequent basis with elected members and the Corporate Management Team.
The Property Services Manager will be expected to provide a flexible approach to the provision of the Property Services Unit. The post holder is required to be pro-active and make decisions on the alternative options which could be adopted by the service focussing on the needs and demands of both the council, its customers and partners.
The post will involve working closely with both the service management team and the unit management team. Given the legislative requirements, budgetary saving requirements as well as the development of the new service area, a greater emphasis on management at the centre of the service unit is critical.
We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
