An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our learning community within Dedridge Primary School. Dedridge Primary is a non-denominational school, serving part of the community of Dedridge in West Lothian. The school is situated in an area of multiple deprivations.
The school roll is 150, across 6 mainstream classes and 5 classes in the Enhanced Resource Base. The staff consists of the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and Principal Teacher with responsibility for the mainstream school and the ERB. There are 3 pupil support workers who support learners across the mainstream classes and 10 advanced pupil support workers who support the children in the ERB classes.
Staff demonstrate strong collegiality and teamwork and this maintains the positive climate for learning in the school. A strength of the school is strong partnerships working with partners including parents and the wider community, which is having a positive influence of the lives of children and their families. All children are nurtured and valued. Dedridge Primary School continues to ensure a progressive, cohesive programme of work in all curriculum areas to challenge learning and ensure all children are reaching their full potential.
The post holder will provide support for teachers and children to enhance experiences and achievement for children. They will undertake a range of support activities with regard to general supervision, safety, care and well-being of the children.
The Post Holder will work with and support pupils within the ERB resource. They will be part of the school team involved in implementing school strategies designed to improve pupil performance in the following areas:
- Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTS)
- Transitions within the school and the local community
- Support Behaviour
- Relationships with peers
- Progress in learning and attainment
- Relationships with staff
Good communication skills are essential and you should enjoy working as part of a team. The post holder will work in partnership with all stakeholders within Dedridge Primary School to ensure a high quality student experience and provide a differentiated curriculum for children in the Autism Resource.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
