Harrysmuir Primary School is a non-denominational school with a role of 363 Primary children. The school has 14 classes. School staff comprises of 22 teachers, one Principal Teacher, one Depute Headteacher and a Headteacher. The school is well supported by a team of 7 Pupil Support Workers who support children both in and out of class as well as by 2 Early Years Practitoners.
The school is well supported by highly skilled administrative and clerical staff. The school runs a very successful Breakfast Club as well as a wide variety of extra-curriculum clubs including; football, mindfulness and cooking. There is a close working relationship across the campus which consists of; Inveralmond Community High School and Inveralmond Early Years Centre. Almost all (92%), of the children who attend Harrysmuir are placed within Quintile 1 and 2. With a Free School Meal uptake of approximately 42%, the school is allocated a significant amount of Pupil Equity Funding each session, to improve outcomes for the most disadvantaged children.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable individual to join our support team to support learning and teaching. Under the teacher’s direction they will work within the learning environment to support pupil learning, organise resources and carry out duties relating to pupil pastoral support. They will promote an ethos of achievement through the development of positive relationships and will have due regard for the health and safety of the young people they are working with.
This position requires registration with the Scottish Social Services Council. The successful candidate will have three months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC and to start working towards a relevant qualification with a 5 year period. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
