We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
St Nicholas Primary School and ELC serve the communities of Broxburn in West Lothian and surrounding areas.
Our nursery (ELC) is at the heart of our establishment and we value the essential work that takes place in the Early Learning and Childcare Setting. It is in the ELC that children and families are supported to form an attachment that will support every child to reach their developmental and early learning goals.
St Nicholas ELC offers children a wide range of learning experiences. We manage continuous improvement through robust self-evaluation and implementation of the School Improvement Plan.
The successful candidate will work as part of a forward thinking team, bringing a sound knowledge of child development and will respond to the individual needs of each child, providing high quality interactions and learning experiences. The setting is open 50 weeks per year and staff work flexibly across the opening hours.
This position requires registration with the Scottish Social Services Council. The successful candidate will have three months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC and to start working towards a relevant qualification with a 5 year period. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
