An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy payroll team who are responsible for updating and maintaining the Council’s payroll records, including pension and tax returns. As the Senior Payroll Assistant, you would be responsible for managing the workload of the payroll assistants and ensuring all payrolls are completed accurately, on time with required outputs.

The ideal candidate would have previous experience of working within a busy payroll or similar department, and be able to deal with complex or escalated payroll queries in addition to supporting payroll assistants on a day to day basis. The ability to work well under pressure and being able to pay attention to detail are essential, as well as a working knowledge of current UK payroll and pension regulations.

Ideally the successful candidate would have experience of working within local government but not essential. In addition, experience of using the Council’s HR & Payroll system iTrent would be preferential although training will be provided.

This post is subject to the Council’s flexible working policies and is operated on a hybrid basis.
