A typical working week will be Thursday and Friday. This post will also require the candidate to work alternate Saturdays (weekend enhancement included), with an alternate working weekday to be determined upon appointment.
West Lothian Council Justice Services is establishing a Programmes Team. This specialised team will deliver the UP2U healthy relationships programme, Moving Forward to Change (MF2C) and the Caledonian System. We are looking to recruit a part time Social Worker to work within the Service and support the implementation of our new Programmes Team. The successful candidate will be expected to facilitate 1:1 and group work delivery with diverse, complex and challenging cases including violent and sexual offenders. Candidates must meet the essential criteria:
- BA in Social Work or other approved Social Work qualification.
- Good understanding of the challenges of the client group
- Must be prepared to work with violent and sexual offenders.
- Knowledge of what is currently effective in terms of reducing re-offending
- Good level of legislative knowledge relevant to the post
- Resilience, ability to communicate to a high standard, ability to produce high quality written work
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council. SSSC registration is required.
