This is a full time, permanent post although part-time job share may be considered.

This is a varied and challenging role as part of a small, busy team. As a member of the Property/Planning team, the post-holder is expected to undertake all types of general property/planning business associated with supporting the functions of the Local Authority, including contract, procurement and information management and governance advice in addition to commercial, property and planning related business and such other business as may be allocated to them to assist the Chief Solicitor to ensure the delivery of high quality, timely legal advice and support to meet customer expectations.

The postholder will be expected to continually look for opportunities to drive forward improvements within the property/planning team and support the development of the skills of legal services and client officers targeted at meeting the priorities of the Council.

The post holder will also be required to act as Clerk to council bodies and undertake such other areas of work as required.

The post is suitable for and will be of interest to an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor seeking a position which brings the unique challenges of being an in-house legal adviser.   The successful candidate will be client focussed and proactive in the identification of issues relevant to council services.
