West Lothian Council reserve the right to close this post early depending on applicant response.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our learning community within Blackburn Primary School. Blackburn Primary School and Hopefield Nursery class is a non-denominational school catering for Nursery to P7, situated in the Blackburn area of West Lothian and is part of the Bathgate Learning Community.

The school works hard to provide an inclusive and nurturing environment for children and their families.  Blackburn Primary School operates within a collaborative leadership model with Murrayfield Primary School. The strategic and operational roles of the Headteacher and Depute Headteacher spanned across both schools, with the Principal Teachers being allocated to and based within specific schools.  This approach has facilitated strong collaborative approaches between the pupils and adults across both settings.

The school role is currently 98 pupils split into 5 school and 2 ASN classes.  Hopefield ELC is a purpose built nursery attached to the school provides early learning and childcare for 3 to 5 year olds, and eligible 2 year olds.  The school is staffed by a skilled and motivated team consisting of the Head teacher, DHT, 2 PTs, teaching and non-teaching staff, working together to support and challenge learners across the school and nursery.

Our parents are very supportive of the school and through regular opportunities parents engage in the wider life of the school and have provided effective feedback to move our school forward. Our free breakfast club is well attended.

West Lothian Council are committed to far reaching changes to the way we deliver our Education Services.
