The Welfare Strategy, Improvement and Development Manager will be responsible in providing leadership in the operational delivery of Welfare Advice and Anti-Poverty Activity through the Advice Shop which is part of the councils Anti-Poverty Service. The post holder will also support with the management and development of professional, technical and other staff within the Advice Shop. The manager will ensure the delivery of an effective, efficient and outcome focused advice service. The Welfare Strategy, Improvement and Development Manager will deliver income maximisation and financial inclusion activities and ensure the accessibility of advice across West Lothian.
This role will involve supporting the delivery of key aspects of the Community Planning Partnerships Tackling Poverty Strategy as well as supporting the service to maximise external funding opportunities, including monitoring service performance, service level agreements & ensuring management information returns to external funders.
The postholder will ensure that the work undertaken by the Advice Shop will be of a customer focussed, corporate nature, with the service being crucial to the delivery of the West Lothian Community Planning Partnership’s Tackling Poverty Strategy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as having the ability able to talk confidently to internal and external partners about the service is essential. The postholder should also have the ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple projects within tight deadlines.
The Welfare Strategy, Improvement and Development Manager must be educated to degree level in a relevant professional discipline, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge, experience and expertise. Leadership experience and relevant professional experience are essential.
