Nursery Practitioner

Site: Duffus Estate

Reporting to: Nursery Manager

Requirements: Scottish Social Services Council or General Teaching Council of Scotland registration.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure the childcare provision is of the highest quality, providing a safe, stimulating and child-centred environment catering for the children’s educational and developmental needs
  • Help with the implementation of the Early Years Framework using the Forest School approach as the basis for learning through play
  • Act as the key person to a small group of children, promote and maintain partnerships with parents/carers and other family members
  • Keep up to date with current developments in childcare and education policies and practices.
  • Be familiar with and model Earthtime’s ethos, policies and procedures
  • Ensure the highest standards of hygiene in the outdoor nursery
  • Plan and facilitate activities
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Nursery Manager or Senior Practitioner

Education and Experience

Qualified (or willing to undertake the qualification) and experienced in childcare

Experienced Early Years practitioner

BA in Childhood Practice, B.Ed. or other relevant degree (required for progression to Senior Practitioner)

Experienced in and with understanding of Realising the Ambition, Curriculum for Excellence, Our Creative Journey and Out to Play

Aware of the importance of Self Evaluation and with experience of HGIOELC (How Good Is Our Early Learning Childcare setting)

Knowledgeable in childcare development from age two to five years
