We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Early Years Practitioner to join our team, providing high-quality care, learning and development opportunities for children aged 0–5 years.
The successful candidate will build positive relationships with children and families, support children’s individual needs and interests, and create engaging learning experiences within a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to children aged 0–5 years.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
- Observe and assess children’s development and contribute to planning.
- Develop and implement individual care/personal plans where required.
- Support children with additional support needs.
- Work effectively with colleagues, parents/carers and other professionals.
- Promote children’s wellbeing, independence, confidence and emotional development.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and infection prevention.
- Follow relevant legislation, guidance and best practice, including GIRFEC, the Health and Social Care Standards, UNCRC, Curriculum for Excellence and Care Inspectorate requirements.
Essential
- HNC Childhood Practice/Childcare or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Knowledge of child development and the needs of children aged 0–5.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to providing nurturing, responsive and child-centred care.
Desirable
- 2 years’ experience working within an early years setting.
- Experience with care/personal plans and individualised support.
- Experience planning and evaluating learning experiences.
- Experience supporting children with additional support needs.
- Knowledge of current Scottish early years legislation and guidance.
