After School Club Practitioner/support worker

To Assist the service Manager in providing a caring, secure environment through including physical, social and emotional care for the children within the setting. Provide individual attention and group activities for the children and support the Lead practitioner in building strong partnerships with children and their families to enable the children’s needs to be met. We are looking foe someone who engages well with the children, and knows how to have fun.

Working with children with additional support needs:

Working with children who have additional needs involves providing individualised support, promoting emotional and social development, and ensuring each child can access learning in a safe, nurturing environment. The role typically includes assisting with personalised education plans, adapting activities to suit diverse abilities, and using positive behaviour strategies to help children engage meaningfully in daily routines. Strong communication with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary professionals is essential to maintain consistent support. The position requires empathy, patience, and the ability to respond calmly and creatively to a wide range of developmental, behavioural, or medical needs.

This post is required Monday to Friday and a Friday position is available separately. Experience working with children and out of school care is preferred but training will be given throughout the job.

There are several positions within our other clubs based in Roslin, Rosewell and Loanhead. The hours are 7-9am then 2.30-6pm Mon-Thurs, Friday is 7-9am then 12-6pm

Qualification requirements: SVQ3 or HNC/HND, PVG registration and SSSC registration is required. Will consider no qualification as training can be provided and qualification can be achieved through work place college.
