The Careers Service support and inspire our students to realise their career goals by supporting the development of their career management skills, to prepare them for the world of work. The Careers Service offers a range of employability related activities including work placement and skills-based careers programmes such as the Principal’s Award, Mentoring Scheme and our Graduate Award Plus.
The University now seeks to appoint a qualified Careers Adviser to work 27 hours per week across 40 weeks of the academic year.
Reporting to the Careers Service Manager, you will provide careers information, advice and guidance to students which will include one-to-one guidance interviews, delivery of group work and presentations, and delivery of skills-based programmes such as our Career Mentoring Scheme and Principal’s Award.
The role requires an excellent communicator with the ability to motivate and build rapport with a range of people. An organised and flexible approach will be required to manage a busy caseload, with an ability to work on own initiative as well as being a team player. To support our students, it will be important to have an empathetic and non-judgemental approach to your work.
