Due to expansion in our Sensational Learning Centre, we are looking to recruit a proactive, empathetic and flexible Learning and Wellbeing Practitioner to join the team (we are a grant aided special school for neurodivergent children with complex additional support needs) on a full-time temporary basis.

Joining Donaldson’s as a Learning and Wellbeing Practitioner offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our supportive and dynamic school community, with a focus on high-quality teaching and learning.

You will work collaboratively to create a motivating and safe learning environment which takes account of individual pupil needs and ensures the highest quality of support and safeguarding standards.

Experience of working with individuals with additional support needs, good understanding of safeguarding and commitment to Donaldsons’ values and ethos are essential. You will be proficient in reading and writing (and hold National 4 or equivalent in English and Maths), be a confident communicator, and able to respond flexibly to changing circumstances while providing structured and consistent support that needs individual support needs.

You will align with our purpose, values and attributes of being professional, dependable, collaborative, curious and adaptable and if you are able use and/or understand BSL, that is a bonus!

What we offer?

  • An opportunity to work in a values-led, inclusive school environment where pupil voice and wellbeing are at the heart of decision making
  • Small class sizes
  • Ongoing professional development
  • A culture of collegiate support, innovation and reflective practice
  • A meaningful opportunity to make a long-lasting difference to pupils who face significant barriers to education
  • Term time contract means summer and other school holiday periods off (in line with West Lothian Council school term dates)
