Job Description
Data Analyst
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: DA8, £34,074 - £36,666 per annum
Campus: Gardyne Campus, Gardyne Road, Dundee, DD5 1NY
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst with a strong Business Intelligence (BI) focus to play a key role in transforming how data is used across the College. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about data, insight, and modern BI tools, and who wants to help drive a more insight-led culture.
In this role, you will lead the development, promotion and optimisation of accessible, high-quality data and insight, enabling staff, managers and stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions that support organisational performance and strategic outcomes. You will work collaboratively across departments to design and deliver modern BI reports, dashboards and data products, helping to embed a culture of self-service analytics and continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timely submission of statutory and internal data returns.
You will develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports, primarily using Power BI, and work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective data and insight solutions. You will champion data literacy and Business Intelligence best practice across the organisation, while managing and querying large datasets using SQL and modern data platforms. A key part of the role will involve ensuring high standards of data quality, governance and compliance, as well as supporting both strategic and operational reporting through the delivery of clear, actionable insights.
To be successful in this role, you should be qualified to HNC or Degree level (SCQF Level 7 or above) in a relevant discipline and have proven, hands-on experience in Business Intelligence and data visualisation, which is essential. You should bring strong technical expertise in Power BI, along with experience working with large, complex datasets and data models. You will be comfortable communicating insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences and will demonstrate a proactive, collaborative approach, with a genuine passion for using data to drive improvement.
Experience of working in the public sector or education would be advantageous, along with knowledge of SQL, as would knowledge of data governance, data warehousing or ETL processes.
This role supports a hybrid working approach, and candidates will be expected to work on-site at least two days per week at our Gardyne Campus.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Friday 22 May 2026.
Interviews are scheduled to be held at Gardyne Campus during the week commencing Monday 1 June 2026.
