The Department of Visual and Performing Arts sits within the Academy of Creative Industries, Culture and Languages, performing arts (PASS) is a thriving area of the curriculum comprising of Technical Theatre, Costume, Make Up Artistry, Dance, Musical Theatre and Acting.

This post is a 0.22 FTE lecturer in Dance.

The primary function of the role is to teach and assess the curriculum in dance within PASS. The role will focus on delivering high-quality training in dance technique, performance and choreography, supporting students throughout their course of study, and acting as a key point of contact in working towards their award.

The post holder will deliver across a range of programmes, including HND Dance and BA (Hons) Dance and Drama, and contribute to engagement and delivery with school groups and outreach provision. The role will prepare students for progression into further study and the professional dance and performing arts industry.

Essential criteria:

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Dance or a related discipline (SCQF Level 9-10).

  • GTCS registration required within six months of commencing role.
  • Demonstrable expertise in teaching dance technique in one or more of the following: Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Commercial.
  • Strong skills and experience in choreography and performance direction.
  • Experience teaching or supporting learning in dance or performing arts education.
  • Ability to deliver both practical and theoretical components of the curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their potential.
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative working skills.
  • Effective ICT skills and use of digital technologies in teaching.
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and student wellbeing.
