Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting post of Learning Assistant in Music.
The primary function is to support the work of Lecturers in ensuring that learners receive high quality support and their individual requirements are met. Learning Assistants also ensure that the learning environment, including materials and equipment, are effectively maintained and will take the lead on the technical provisioning for their area. Within the School of Media, Music and Sound Production, the role also involves coordinated/supervising the technical aspects of external and commercial hires and projects such as performances and a range of commercial clients hiring spaces.
You will contribute to the development of materials for a range of college and industry-based projects, full and part-time courses and external training programmes (which may be delivered to students from other disciplines and to commercial clients). Up-to-date knowledge and skills are required some of the following:
- Music instrument maintenance and minor repair
- Live audio installation and operation
- Music performance set up and coordination (including instruments and sound)
- Recording studio operation and maintenance
The nature of FE/HE in a college setting involves working with a diverse range of students and stakeholders and relies on core values of adaptability, a student-centred approach, innovation and collaboration.
You will be educated to minimum HND (SCQF7) level in a relevant discipline, and demonstrate the ability to engage with a diverse range students, staff and external clients.
