Edinburgh College is seeking an enthusiastic, industry-experienced and student-focused Lecturer in Civil Engineering to join our Net Zero & Sustainable Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire the next generation of Civil Engineering professionals and contribute to the delivery of high-quality further and higher education programmes.
The successful candidate will teach on Civil Engineering programmes, including HNC Civil Engineering, delivering subjects such as Structural Mechanics and Geotechnics. You will plan, prepare and deliver engaging learning experiences, assess student progress, provide academic guidance and support, and help students develop the technical knowledge and professional skills required for successful careers within the sector.
Working as part of a collaborative curriculum team, you will contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement activities, employer engagement and the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. You will use your industry expertise to ensure learning remains relevant, current and aligned with the needs of the Civil Engineering profession.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Hold a degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Have current and relevant Civil Engineering industry knowledge and experience.
- Hold, or are willing to work towards, a TQFE (or equivalent) and General Teaching Council for Scotland registration.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Can motivate and support learners to achieve their full potential.

- Have strong organisational, digital and problem-solving skills.
- Are committed to continuous professional development and quality enhancement.
