The Department of Visual and Performing Arts sits within the Academy of Creative Industries, Culture and Languages, performing arts is a thriving area of the curriculum comprising of Technical Theatre, Costume, Make Up Artistry, Dance, Musical Theatre and Acting. This post is a full-time lecturer in Technical Theatre and Production Arts. The role will provide support to full and part time students in Technical Theatre and Production Arts throughout their course of study and be the point of contact in working towards their award.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications or skills and experience at SCQF Level 8-9 (e.g. Degree, Graduate Diploma)
  • GTCS registration is required within six months of commencing role.
  • Applicants are required to evidence that they hold the skills to underpin the specific curriculum area
  • Experience of operating and running live performances.
  • Multi-discipline professional experience working in some/all the following roles: Production management, Lighting Design, Sound Design, Set Design, Stage Management, Production Electrician, Sound Engineer, Stage Technician, Stage Carpenter, Props Maker, or other related discipline

Relevant industry experience and knowledge including:

  • Statutory inspection regimes required by live performance venues
  • Qlab Sound and Video Playback Software
  • ETC EoS family lighting consoles
  • Vectorworks
  • Set construction techniques and practices
  • Stage Management practices
  • Effective Presentation Skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills – both individual and group
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Excellent ICT Skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively respond to changes
  • Ability to use data to improve performance
  • Ability to evaluate assessment approaches and their role in supporting effective learning
  • Ability to reflect on approaches to inform improved practice
  • Facilitating wider access to learning, teaching and assessment through the effective application of digital technologies
  • Building constructive and respectful learning relationships with students and partners
  • Motivate students to develop the essential skills required for learning, life and work
